SMSOD March Newsletter 2010

T-shirts:

T-shirts have been ordered and will be available May 20. A few extras will be available 1st come, 1st served if your forgot to order.

Recital CD's:

CDs will be distributed during the first week of May. These are the cut versions of the songs for practicing.

DVDs: 

Order at the desk - $35 due by June 16, with full payment. Earn a FREE DVD if you bring in a summer student! See the desk for details.

Photo Days:

Tuesday May 18th and Wednesday May 19th, 3:30pm to 10:30pm (See schedule page). Come completely ready in costume, hair, light make-up with order envelope prepared - arriving 15 minutes prior to actual photo time.

*NOTE: Due to safety concerns, absolutely no siblings will be admitted through the door. Remember studeio is open for regular classes the rest of that week!

Fantasy Island:

Memorial Day Monday, May 31. Arrive at the stage at 11:15 for the 12:00 show completely ready to dance. (Stage is befor ethe large Ferris Wheel - on the left, under the tent like last year.) Remember to bring a change of clothes, hangers for costumes, water, sunscreen, etc. 3 tickets each will be distributed mid-May. (See line-up sheet.) Additional tickets are available at the gate for $12.95. Wear your t-shirt after the show!


*NOTE: The Studio is closed on Memorial Day - Monday - only. We are open Saturday and Sunday!

Dress Rehearsal:

Thursday, June 17 at UB North Performing Arts Center's Main Stage @ 4:30 0 9:30pm. (Rehearsal will run in order of program, with the Finale rehearsal between acts. You may leave when finished.) *Sit with your class upon arrival...completely ready to dance, head to toe! Come by 4:15 so we can start at 4:30 this year!

*NOTE: Assistants will take classes to & from stage! Parents should remain in seats. (NO sitting on stairs this year again please.) *EXTRA NOTE: The side door is for current classes called. Students who are changing should use another route or at least WALK CALMLY  through the doors ONLY IF NECESSARY. Door will be monitored for safety and security.

Finale Costume:

Students in Act 2 may be in the finale. The color scheme is purple and black, including lavenders, etc. DO NOT WEAR OTHER COLORS! Should be "hip"!! Layers, T's, leggings, shorts, etc. Wear your recital t-shirt!

Recital (2 identical shows for everyone):

Friday, June 18 - 7 pm (arrive 6pm)

Saturday, June 19 - 1 pm (arrive 12 noon)

Reports directly to the dressing rooms upon arrival. Parent will volunteers will supervise each class. (Sign-up to help on the cork "info board".) After drop off, parents must enter the audience through the main doors with a ticket.

*NOTE: If you are only in Act 2, you may watch Act 1 in the audience with a ticket or arrive backstage during intermission: 8pm Friday or 2pm Saturday. (It is NOT recommended for children to sit backstage during Act 1.) Teens are encouraged to help during Act 1. (Community service hours?)

Ticket Sales:

Friday, June 4 @ 10am for Friday, June 18 show

Friday, June 11 @ 10am for Saturday, June 19 show

All tickets must be purchased. In recognition of the current economic factors, ticket prices will be the same as last year - $16.50 each.

Locations for purchase are:

UB Box Office - open 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday. No extra fees will be charged, but only cash and credit cards are accepted. NO CHECKS

Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or at Macy's-Galleria "best available" that they offer may be possibly to close for you! *The box office is also open 1 hour prior to showtime, however advance tickets are recommended!

Costume/Hair/Make-up Info

Individual styles will be discussed during Parent Observation Week (May 3 - 9) and a sheet will then be available. Please follow guidelines set by teachers and COME FULLY PREPARED AHEAD OF TIME! 8(now is the time to buy bobby pins, safety pins, hairspray, hairnets for buns, etc...) at teh recital, Leon's air Studio can do your hair! Take advantage of this service! Remember: No underwear costumes! Tights will be distributed for each class.

Audience Shouting

SHOUTING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED! UB ushers have been instructed to escort loud audience members out of the theater. This is a PROFESSIONAL STAGE SHOW! Tell your friends NOW.
